Anglian Home Improvements long service awards recognise 5,880 years of dedicated service

(20th November 2013)

A group of 15 extremely dedicated employees at Anglian Home Improvements has been presented with long service awards to mark a combined 480 years’ service with the UK’s biggest home improvement company.

This brings the total number of long service awards presented by Anglian Home Improvements for 30 or 40 years’ service to 192, representing a combined 5,880 years of dedicated employment to the company.

Three employees – Ernest Brown, Philip Brown and Alfred Tanti – were presented with awards for 40 years’ service at this year’s special awards ceremony, which was held at Norwich City Football Club on 13th November, with another twelve employees receiving recognition for 30 years with the company.

The awards were presented by Norwich City striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Anglian ambassador, actress Sally Geeson.

Window fabricator Philip Brown, aged 63, was born in Norwich and has lived in the area all his life. He is on the committee of the Anglian Windows fishing club and is an avid Norwich City supporter, having been a season ticket holder for more than 25 years. Philip was in the Merchant Navy before joining Anglian Home Improvements in April 1973.

He said, “It means a lot to me to receive this recognition from Anglian Home Improvements. I certainly didn’t expect to be here for this long but I’ve always enjoyed working at Anglian and there’s always been plenty of opportunity to try something new as the company and the technology evolves. Anglian has been such a big part of my life that it feels more like a family than an employer.”

The Anglian Home Improvements long service awards were established seven years ago and are now an annual occasion.

Executive Chairman at Anglian Home Improvements, Laurence Vaughan, said, “As a relative newcomer at Anglian Home Improvements, I am extremely impressed with the commitment and loyalty of the people here today, who are celebrating a combined 480 years of service to the company.

“Since Anglian Home Improvements established its long service awards seven years ago, the business has presented a remarkable 180 awards for 30 years’ service and another 12 to employees who have been with us for 40 years or more. There are not many businesses in this day and age that can celebrate such dedication from their staff and it is a great honour to be able to celebrate this accomplishment with some of our most loyal employees.”
