Norwich apprentice wins award

(08th November 2012)

A Norwich apprentice from Anglian Building Products is celebrating after scooping a top accolade.

Daniel Gooch 19, who has been a fenestration apprentice with Anglian for a year, was awarded Fenestration of the Year by South Norwich MP Simon Wright at the recent Construction Training Specialist’s student awards.

The award is in recognition of Daniel outstanding progress and hard work made during the first year of his apprenticeship. He has been gaining ‘on the job’ experience in all aspects of fenestration which has seen him work alongside installers, resident liaison officers and contract managers on the current Norwich City Council window refurbishment contract.

On completion of his two-year apprenticeship, Daniel will successfully gain a NVQ Level 2 in Fenestration Installation and Key Skills.

"My apprenticeship has helped improve my confidence and provided an excellent opportunity for me to learn new skills and meet new people. I was really chuffed to win the award and I hope to stay working in the industry for many years to come." Daniel Gooch, Anglian apprentice said.

Anglian Contract Manager, Dave Banks commented "Daniel is a real team player and a delight to have working with us. He has demonstrated a professional ability to adapt to any situation and will always go that extra mile to get the job done. He is a real asset to the team and I am so pleased that his efforts have been duly recognised."

"Daniel has demonstrated that he has the up-most respect for the learning environment and coupled with the desire to improve his knowledge and skill has progressed significantly to be worthy of this award. His work placement has supported him totally giving him opportunities to experience the site environment and to work alongside skilled operatives. Daniel has gained the respect of all individuals who work with him and I’m sure he will be able to sustain a career that will see his own aspirations achieved. We all wish him continued success." Gavin Springall, Tutor at the Construction Training Specialists College added.
