(12th November 2012)

Up-and-coming designer Oliver Hrubiak scooped the inaugural Designer of the Future Award sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements for his Finn chair at this year’s House Beautiful Awards.

Held on 8th November at the Science Museum in London, the popular awards are referred to as “the Oscars of the home industry” and celebrate excellence in the year’s best home products and retailers.

At 23 years old, Hrubiak recently graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a First Class BA (Hons) in Furniture and Product Design. He specialises in furniture and lighting design and has industrial experience in graphic and interior design. Already making waves in the industry, he has won the 2012 New Designers John Lewis Award and been awarded 2012 Student Lighting Designer of the Year by the Lighting Association.

Thrilled to be named as the House Beautiful Awards Designer of the Future, Hrubiak commented after the awards ceremony, “I am delighted to have won this award, it’s a great endorsement of my design. It means more people will see my furniture, giving me greater visibility. It is good to know that other people like my designs and believe they’re good. I’m really excited about the future. I want to thank everyone at House Beautiful Awards and Anglian Home Improvements for recognising my designs and potential.”

Melanie McDonald, Head of Marketing and Communications at Anglian Home Improvements says, “Our congratulations to Oliver Hrubiak on his Designer of the Future Award. At Anglian, we’re big believers in nurturing and celebrating talent and it’s inspiring to see brilliant young designers like Oliver breaking into the industry.
